Mahindra Rural Housing Finance and Habitat for Humanity join hands to distribute 1062 waterwheels in Barmer, Rajasthan

Jaipur, March 02nd, 2023: Mahindra Rural Housing Finance Limited (MRHFL), one of the largest home finance companies serving rural and affordable areas across India and a subsidiary of Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. recently distributed 1062 waterwheels in 12 villages of Barmer, Rajasthan under its CSR initiative. The initiative was announced at the “Waterwheels Distribution” event, scheduled on 16th February 2023 at village Mangle ki Beri, District – Barmer in Rajasthan.

With the rural population being one of its key stakeholders, MRHFL’s mission is to transform rural lives and drive positive change in these communities. These waterwheels have been distributed to underprivileged people in 12 villages (Naya Kuan, Jat Basti, Khumani, Mangle Ki Beri, Ram Nagar, Tejasar, Wagani Chhatarwalo ka Bas, Wakalsar Mangal ki Beri, Devdo ki Dhani, Musalmano ki Dhani, Nehro ka Bas, Jurdo ki Dhani) from Barmer Rajasthan, who don’t have access to clean drinking water.

MRHFL has executed this program in partnership with an NGO Partner – Habitat for Humanity India, a housing non-profit organization which helps low-income families across India build healthy housing eco-systems through shelter and sanitation. Previously, MRHFL has successfully implemented CSR programs in various fields such as education and gender equality, preventive healthcare and sanitation, and environmental sustainability.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Rajan Samuel, Managing Director, Habitat for Humanity India said, “Habitat India has always played a crucial role in providing affordable, safe, and healthy housing to the underprivileged segments of society. In partnership with MRHFL, we are providing waterwheels to 1062 families from twelve villages in Barmer, Rajasthan. This will ensure ease of access to clean water for the families and lessen the burden on women and girls”.
