APM Terminals Pipavav declared most efficient Indian Port for the second consecutive year

Pipavav, 31st  May 2023 : India: APM Terminals Pipavav, one of the leading gateway ports in Western India, has emerged as India’s most efficient port for the second consecutive year in the Global Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2022 rankings published by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence. With an impressive total of 119.04 points, it has secured the 30th position globally in the CPPI rankings. The CPPI serves as a comprehensive benchmark that assesses container port performance worldwide, providing valuable insights to industry stakeholders, including national governments, port authorities, operators, development agencies, trade, and logistics entities.

APM Terminals Pipavav stands out for its customer-centric approach, streamlined EXIM processes, and unwavering focus on productivity and safety. These distinctive qualities have contributed to the port’s exceptional performance and reputation.

APM Terminals Pipavav had a remarkable year in 2022-23, marked by significant achievements and contributions to the development of India’s port sector. The port played a vital role in strengthening the country’s infrastructure and reducing logistics costs through its connection to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) and provision of electrified double stack trains for cargo movement. APM Terminals Pipavav demonstrated its customer-centricity and infrastructure capabilities by securing new services and partnerships, such as the ‘Shaheen Express’ and JADE Express, further enhancing its connectivity and transshipment hub status.

Sustainability remained a top priority, with APM Terminals Pipavav committing to become net-zero by 2040 and reducing emissions by 70% by 2030. The port’s dedication to sustainability was evident through its solar power initiatives, such as the commissioned 1,000 kWp solar power plant, resulting in significant carbon footprint reduction. APM Terminals Pipavav continued to expand its services, catering to exporters and facilitating the shipments of agricultural commodities, while also partnering with Contrans to develop a state-of-the-art multi-modal park and warehousing facilities.
